Wausau, WI – On September 17th, 2024, the Wausau Fire Department will conduct a comprehensive live fire training and search and rescue exercise at 1361 South 8th Avenue. This exercise is designed to provide Wausau firefighters with valuable, hands-on experience in realistic fire conditions.
The highlight of the training will involve the controlled burn of individual rooms within the structure, allowing firefighters to simulate real-world firefighting and rescue scenarios. These exercises will help enhance their skills in fire behavior, suppression, search and rescue, incident management, and arson investigation. The training is conducted in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, ensuring that firefighters are prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Training in acquired structures provides firefighters with a level of realism that cannot be replicated in traditional simulations. This opportunity will help Wausau firefighters sharpen their techniques and ensure they are well-equipped to protect the community.
The Wausau Fire Department extends its gratitude to Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork Co. Inc. for providing the structure and facilitating the necessary abatement. Their partnership has made this crucial training possible. Additionally, the department appreciates the continued support of Wausau residents as they work to maintain the safety and well-being of the community.
