Wausau Water Works provides municipal water and wastewater service to approximately 16,000 customers.

Drinking Water Division

The Drinking Water Division maintains over 250 miles of water mains, over 16,000 service connections, more than 1,700 fire hydrants, 10 booster stations, and 7 water storage tanks totaling 5,750,000 gallons of water storage.

The water treatment facility treats and distributes 1.5 billion gallons of water each year; about 4.2 million gallons per day.

Wastewater Division

The Wastewater Division operates and maintains a $150 million treatment facility, 200 miles of sewer lines, 24 sewerage lift stations and treats 2 billion gallons of sewage annually.

Billing and Administrative Office

The Wausau Water Works billing and administrative office is located on the first floor of City Hall at 407 Grant Street. Office Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Billing and Administrative Department is responsible for all billing functions for over 16,000 accounts, along with customer inquiries and other administrative duties.

Wausau Water Works is managed by a five person commission which meets the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public, however agenda items need to be submitted two weeks prior to each meeting.

Electronic Payments

Payments can be made electronically through your checking or savings accounts. Payments are deducted on the 20th of the month in which the bill is due. Signing up is simple, complete the authorization form and return to our office or fill it out online here.
